The Bell

The Bell captured in a French Ship of War
Of 74 guns was gifted
By Sir John Ross of Balnagoun, Bart.
In the year 1778
To the Parish of Kincardine

When Britains Navies did the World control,
And spread her Empire to the farthest Pole
High stood our Hero in the Rolls of Fame,
And Flockhart, then became a Deathlists name

This Bell no more shall witness Blood and Gore
Nor shall his Voice mix with the Cannons roar.
But to Kincardine by the Hero given.
Shall call the Sinner to the peace of Heaven.
Croick.
The “Bell” was transferred to the new seat of parish worship when the churches in Ardgay were united in 1947. So ended over 720 years of recorded Christian worship on the site. Yet the link is maintained as the bell rings out every Sunday to call the people of the parish today to worship.
